Key Issues

Missouri  Department of Revenue Asks for Teamster Input

After Teamsters lobbied successfully to veto then block HB 327, the Missouri Department
of Revenue has asked for Teamster input on legislation to change Missouri's commercial
driving laws.

Teamster lobbyists have already identified a flaw in the state's legislation.  Brian Treece
and Mary Phillips, who are Teamster lobbyists, along with the IBT, are researching
documents from the Missouri Department of Revenue to eliminate other state laws
that may not be needed to comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act.

Missouri Kansas Nebraska Conference Endorses McCaskill for Govenor

At a press conference on Sunday, February 8th, Jim Kabell, Secretary-Treasurer of
Teamsters Local 245 in Springfield, MO, announced that Missouri's Teamsters are endorsing
state Auditor Claire McCaskill for Govenor of the State of Missouri in the 2004 election.

The Teamsters have chosen to give their endorsement to McCaskill because we feel
that she would be the best candidate to represent our interests in Jefferson City.  There
have been some disagreements between Govenor Bob Holden and labor on trade
issues during his term.
